Cradle
12in x 12in
Acrylic on Board
2015
Cradle was done on 16in x 16in wood board with acrylics. This piece emerged through countless layers of paint and eventually took shape as a mother “cradling” her baby. The intention of this piece was to exaggerate the mothers leaned in position and her entanglement of her arms and legs with the swaddled baby. This represents the unconditional love and intertwined bond between the Mother and her newborn. Another element of this painting is the additional imagery of a male figure or “father figure” alluded in a more abstract manner, with his arms wrapped around the other figures, protecting and supporting his family.
