‘Intentions’ is one of my most personal and favorite images. It was created through the concept of trust, specifically when embarking on a new relationship. I chose a limited color palette that emphasized the painting’s sensual yet somber quality and I was inspired by many of the works in Picasso’s blue period.
The concept of trust is shown through the opposing perspectives of these two lovers. The overlapping female faces represent the woman’s internal conflict about the relationship. She is torn as to whether or not to pursue her lover, while the male figure’s devotion and loving intentions are obvious. The image provides interpretation by the viewer to question each figure’s intentions.
