‘Determined’ emerged out of a facial study through gesture and paint. The piece contains two faces. The image of the face that this piece is named for is the female silhouette looking to the right of the painting. The face is somber and ‘Determined’ to disregard the past and move toward the future. The other face represents the part of the woman that wants to look back and to hold onto the past. However, the ‘Determined’ silhouette ultimately prevails into the future.
